LßrÚttir fletir eru Švinlega til vandrŠa ß ═slandi ■ˇtt sumir arkitektar tregist til a viurkenna ■a.

MŠlt er me gˇum heyrnartˇlum.

My attention was drown to the fact that the dripping through the balkony above an appartment produced a sharp, beeting sound. I went there for a recording.

Good headphones are recommended.
The file is recorded in 24 bits 48 kHz and takes around 10-15 seconds to download.

Brjßlaur bŠjarlŠkur - A crazy creek

BŠjarlŠkurinn ß Skjaldf÷nn til alls vÝs. Ljˇsmynd: ElÝn ┴rnadˇttir

Sjßlfsagt verur ■etta kalla Rigningarsumari mikla. VÝa hafa ori skemmdir af v÷ldum vatnagangs.

Laugardaginn 5. j˙lÝ sÝastliinn brast ß me hlřviri og ˙rhellis rigningu ß Vestfj÷rum. Selßin Ý Skjaldfannardal Šrist og fˇr hamf÷rum. Allir lŠkir trylltust og jafnvel bŠjarlŠkurinn var a stˇrfljˇti.

Hjˇnin ß Skjaldf÷nn, ■au Indrii Aalsteinsson og Kristbj÷rg Lˇa ┴rnadˇttir, uru fyrir stˇrtjˇni. Varnargarar og řmis mannvirki, sem hafist var handa vi fyrir um 60 ßrum, eru stˇrskemmd.

This summer has been warm and extremely weat in some parts of Iceland. On July 5 it burst on with windy warm weather and the extremely heavy rain on the Westfjords in Iceland. Some creeks turned into big and aggressive rivers. On the farm of Skjaldf÷nn the river, Selß, destroyed a lot of facilities built during the past 60 years to protect the farmland.

Even the creek, just close to the farmhouse, burst into a noisy river. When we came ther on July 11, it was still bulky and angry as can be heard on this recording. Almost 3 hours of the creek were recorder but in this podcast only 10 minutes must do.

Sennheiser ME-62 in an AB-setup were used and a Nagra Ares BB+.

Good headphones are recommended.

Tˇnafj÷ld bŠjarlŠkjarins vi Neri-Rausdal - the variety of tones of a little stream

Skvaldur lŠkjarins er heillandi. Ljˇsmynd: ElÝn ┴rnadˇttirVi hjˇnin feruumst um sunnanvera Vestfiri 27.-29. j˙lÝ sÝastliinn. Me Ý f÷r var Unnur StefanÝa Alfresdˇttir. A morgni 29. j˙lÝ hljˇritai Úg bŠjarlŠkinn vi Neri-Rausdal. Notai Úg tvo R°de NT-2A hljˇnema Ý AB-uppsetningu (Omnidirectional).
Eftir ■a stillti Úg hljˇnemana ß ßttu, ■.e. ■eir hljˇrituu bŠi a og frß lŠknum. Ůetta er ekki alls ˇskylt Blumlein uppsetningu a ÷ru leyti en ■vÝ a Ý Blumlein uppsetningunni er 90░ horn milli hljˇnemanna og er annar settur ofan ß hinn. Sß efri er lßtinn sn˙a a uppt÷kum hljˇsins, sjß http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blumlein_Pair. MŠlt er me gˇum heyrnartˇlum.

In ENGLISH
I and my wife went to the West Fjords in Iceland and travelled around on July 27-29 with our friend, Unnur StefanÝa Alfresdˇttir. In the morning of July 29 I recorded the bubble and singing of the stream at the farm, Neri-Rausdalur. Two R°de NT-2A were used in an omnidirectional Ab-Stereo setupá with 40 cm spacing. Then I changed the configuration to an eight setup, with the same location of the mics. This is a kind of related to the Blumlein Setup except that in Blumlein the mics are close to each other in a 90░setup with one above the other (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blumlein_Pair).
The difference was shaking. In the first recording the eight configuration is used and the AB-setup in the second one. Please note the deapth of the eight figured sound and how the deep tones of the spring are getting through. A Nagra Ares BB+ was used.

We went down to the beech and recorded the small waves playing with the stones.
It was windy which can be heard. For comparison, see Magnus

EAST OLF THE RIVER MOUTH

I have recorded the surf at the Breiamerkursandur in Southeast Iceland once before. It was during the summer and the sound not as aggressive as on February 23 when I and my wife were there.
The waves went so far upon the shore that we didn't dare to go closer than 10 meters. Some 50 meters to the right was the mouth of the glacier lagoon and some icebreaking sounds were heard.
The booming surf was threatening.
The same setup as before: Rode NT-2A and a Sennheiser ME-64 in an ms-setup.

The Breiamerkursandur, Southeast-Iceland, is a magnificient place with the glaciers to the north and the Atlantic Ocean to the south. On February 23 Elin and I recorded the sounds of the streaming water from the lagoon to the sea, with the noise of the ocean to the left and the water with breaking ice infront.
A Nagra Ares BB+ was used together with a Rode NT-2A and a Sennheiser ME-64 in an MS-setup.

The deep sounds of the waterfall Glanni

á

The waterfall of Glanni in Borgarfjordur, Iceland, is not one of the biggest waterfalls in the country, but known for itĹs charm and beauty. It sounds perfectly well.

In spite of the northern breeze I didnĹt cut of the lower frequencies. Then I would have lost the deep tones of the waterfall.

The swimming pools in Iceland are very popular. There 3 generations or even 4 can find something for every age: warm pots, waterglides of different sizes and both indoor and outdoor pools.

The Swimming pool at Selfoss, Southern Iceland, is a very popular one and actually an amusement park with an outdoor and indoor pool, childrens pool, 3 waterglides of different sizes and much more. There I and Elin went with our grand children and their parents who had a big fun there while I tried to catch the atmosphere with assistance from elin, who also was the photographer.

The recording was made near the childrens pool and later indoors using R°de NT-2A and NT55 mics in an MS-setup..

My wife, ElÝn ┴rnadˇttir, who is my helping hand in so many ways, has always stated that the river, Fossß in Berufj÷rur, East Iceland, is one of the most beautiful spots in our country. When we stopped there on July 8, 2011, she saw that a gravel road went along the river.

Up on the hill is a magnificient view and nearby is the waterfalls with the heavy and turbulent sound which no one can resist.

While I was setting up my equipment a bus came along with some French and German tourists. After taking some photoes of me and the waterfalls, they waited patiently in their bus until I had finished the recording.

The recording is published here in 44,1 kHz and 16 bits.

A Nagra Ares BB+ was used together with R°de NT-2A and NT55 in an MS-setup.
