On Friday Nov. 24 2017 the chair persons of 3 Icelandic political parties were working on a new government. At around 14:30 2 ravens seemed to be discussing how to devide the street of Tjarnarbol between them. The discussions were recorded using a Zoom h6 using a fury protection.
As there was a strong breeze from the north the vind noice might be a little disturbind, but I had to cut of the 100 Hertz.
Good headphones recommended.

I and my wife, ElÝn, went on our Kea Soul EV north to the village of Hvammstangi in Northwest Iceland on Friday, October 13.

On the mountain of Holtav÷ruheii, which lies between southern and Northern Iceland, it was a strong headwind and rain.

The first recording is made on our way when we were heading to the north in Hrutafjordur. The reain and storm were quite hard.

The second recording is made the day after when we were heading up to the top of Holtav÷ruheii in a nice weather. We had to use the heater as it was a little cold outside. Notice the different surface of the road.

The 3. recording is catching the aproaching cars. The microphone was facing the left side in order to catch the sound of the cars.

The 4. recording depicts the sound in the tunnel of Hvalfj÷rur when cars are passing y.

FjarlŠgir svart■restir - Distant blackbirds

═ nßgrenni mÝnu eru nokkrir svart■restir sem hefja tˇnleikahald um mßnaamˇtin mars-aprÝl. Umferarniurinn veldur ■vÝ a erfitt er a hljˇrita ■ß frß sv÷lum h˙ssins.

Dregi var ˙r hßvaanum me ■vÝ a skera af 100 rium.

mThe blackbirds nearby our house start their concerts normally in ghe beginning of April. The noise from the trafic makes it difficult to recofd them during the rush-hours.

On the night before May 9 2017 2 Sennheiser ME62 were left on the balcony with 39 cm interspace. This episode started around 03:12. A distant recording like this is in some way a little charming.

As recordists know some sounds, not heard during the day, become audible at night. Ghe ventilation system of the nearby appartment hous is quite audible. The noise was reduced by cutting off 100 Hertz.

The weather today, Friday March 3, was sunny and just a gentle wind.

I and my wife went to the lake in the center of Reykjavik. There was a lot of screeming and shouting of the swans, ducks and geese as well as other urban sounds.

We made recordings at 4 spots close to the City hall of Reykavik and concluded where warm water runs into the lake to keep a small pool open for the birds, as the lake is now covered with ice.

Recorded with a Zoom H6 recorder with an attached stereomic set up as 120░.

Good headphones are recommended.

Enjoy the listening.

Stundarkorn ß Seltjarnarnesi - A short while at Seltjarnarnes

Ůa er jafnan endurnŠrandi a ganga hring um Seltjarnarnesi. ┴ sumrin er fuglalÝf miki og n˙ er krÝan Ý essinu sÝnu.

It is always refreshing to take a walk along the hiking trail around the Seltjarnarnes area west of Reykjavik. The birdlife is rich during the summer time. The arctic tern is quite common and the sound of the eiderducks and the chicks revives one's best feelings.

At around 11 pm on July 7 2016 there was moderate breeze from north-west. I decided to catch some of the environmental sounds. Some pedestrians and people biking can be heard as well as a nervous redshank.

á

The recorder was an Olympus LS-11. The mics were covered by small foamshields and a dead kitten from R°de.

The recording is 24 bits, 44,1 kHz. The download might therefore be a little slow.

This is the last recording from our trip to Northwest Iceland this summer.

In the morning of July 14, around 7 there was a little rain at Kirkjubˇl in SteingrÝmsfj÷rur, Northwest-Iceland. The drops can be heard on the roof of the guesthouse some 12 m away from the mics.

Many birds entertained us. Just to name some of them: golden plower, ringd plower, arctic tern, whimbrel, snipe, redwing, redshang and some more. A sheep was also heard.

There are some other birds which are not counted. It would be interesting if listeners would try to recognize them.

Recorded with 2 Sennheiser ME-62 on a Nagra Ares BB+.

Fřllinn ß Heyklifi - The Fulmars at Heyklif

On April 15 2014 I went to the farm of Heyklif, which lies between St÷varfj÷rur and BreidalsvÝk in Eastern Iceland, though closer to St÷varfj÷rur. In the cliffs north of the farm the fulmars are nesting. We set up the microphones close to the house which gave them a shelter from the strong southwestern wind.

The recording is quite descriptive for the sometimes stormy spring in Iceland. The deep sounds of the sea and the wind are heard as well as the fulmars, Redwings, some geeze, and other birds.

Headphones are recommended.

My assistants were Kristjßn Agnar Vßgsei, a 17 years old boy together with his grandfather, Hrafn Baldursson.

Two R°de Microphones NT-2A were used in an AB setup. The mics were in baskets and ädead catsô were also used.

á

In the first recording a flock og geeze is heard when 10 minutes have passed and a plower is heard in the second recording.
