Hljˇheimur Konf˙sÝusarhofsins Ý Qufu - The sounds of the Temple of Confucius in Qufu

Margt dregur ■ß a. Ëtr˙legt er til ■ess a hugsa a fj÷lskylda Konf˙sÝusar bjˇ ■ar til ßrsins 1937, a Japanar hˇfust handa vi a hernema KÝna.

Ragnar Baldursson hefur m.a. Bent ß tengsl kenninga Maos vi Konf˙sÝus.

Laugardaginn 17. maÝ sÝastliinn var sendinefnd KÝnversk-Ýslenska menningarfÚlagsins ■ar ß fer. Degi var teki a halla og fj÷ldi fˇlks af ÷llum ■jˇernum ßtti lei um. Ůar sem Úg hafi komi ■arna ßur fˇr Úg ■ess ß leit vi leis÷gumann minn, Li Yanfeng, a vi drŠgjumst ÷ru hverju aftur ˙r hˇpnum ■vÝ a mig langai a hljˇrita umhverfi.

ENGLISH

The city of Qufu in Shandong Province, China, attracts many people as there is The Temple of Confucius (551-476 bc), the sage, who has made more influence on Chinese society than any other philosopher.

His family lived there until 1937 when the Japanese increased their occupation of China. It has even been stated than certain parts of Mao Zedong's theories, are influenced by Confucius.

On May 17 a delegation from The Icelandic Chinese Cultural Society visited the temple. I asked my guide, Li Yanfeng, to stay with me a little behind as I wanted to record the environment. She was very good at finding suitable places. This sound immage is made of 3 recordings, ending infront of Confuciu's tomb which is located a while from the temple itself. We were taken there with an el-car. The environment was a little more noisy there than in the temple itself.

The sounds of birds and people filled the air.

Recorded with an Olympus LS-11.
