Undarlegt suð - A strange noise

Um daginn reyndi ég að hljóðrita næturhljóð uppi í Borgarfirði. Notaðir voru Røde NT-2A og NT-1A ásamt NT55.

Þegar hljóðritað hafði verið í u.þ.b. 1,5 klst fór a bera á truflunum í NT-2A og NT-1A hljóðnemunum.

IN ENGLISH

Last week I placed Røde NT-1A, NT-2A and NT-55 outdoors for a whole night. The first night Nt-2A started producing some noise after som 1.5 hours recording and the second night the same happened to the NT-1A.  A strange noise occurred but it seemed do disappear after the sunrise.

After some investigation I raised this question on the Natural Recordists Mailinglist. I received many answers and it was obvious that this is a known issue with the NT-1A at least and some say with most condenser microphones. In a letter from one member of the list it is mentioned that this occurs usually in the morning when the fog comes and the cold and wet makes this happen to the mics.

some solutions have been mentioned to this problem as a setup of heaters.

A soundfile containing a sample of the noise is attached to this blog.
